As our Director of Human Resources, you will plan, develop, and prioritize the policies, responsibilities, and activities of the Human Resources (HR) department.  In this role, you will lead a team of three other HR professionals including our Director of Recruitment.  You will work closely with the COO and CFO to integrate HR strategy with other integral components of our business.  We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys operational involvement with multiple aspects of the HR function.  An ideal candidate will have led previous HR teams to demonstrable success and be eager to leverage their talents on a larger stage.  Our Director of Human Resources reports directly to our COO.

This position is based in our Chicago headquarters and requires working in-person at least four days per week.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand and refine Gelber’s goals related to staffing, recruiting, retention and employee development.
  • Oversee and administer HR programs including, but not limited to, payroll, benefits, compensation, performance management, leave, disciplinary matters, and training and development.
  • Collaborate with the finance and accounting department to accurately prepare, process and book a variety of payroll and other HR-related transactions to our financial management and control systems.
  • Monitor and ensure Gelber’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from Gelber’s human resource information system (HRIS) and talent management system.
  • Facilitate professional development, training, and certification activities across all HR staff.

Technology

Second Shift- Trade Support Operations

Chicago, IL

As a Trade Support Specialist at Gelber, you will have a real opportunity to have a long-term career in Information Technology at a successful trading firm. You will work side by side with other talented individuals as the first line of defense for the firm. This role is for someone who flourishes in a fast-paced environment, has a strong work ethic, clear communication, and has a strong interest in growing their technical skillset. This position will report directly into the manager of Trade Support who reports directly into the Chief Operating Officer.

This position will require in person presence in our Chicago office located in River West right next to the Merchandise Mart and convenient to public transportation.  

This position will be second shift which is from 1.30-10pm central Sunday-Thursday. You will be required to work some holidays, due to when the exchanges open in other countries.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide first and second level support for all Gelber employees
  • Provide primary real-time monitoring and support for all trading software and secondary monitoring for technical infrastructure
  • Monitor all Gelber proprietary applications and systems
  • Communicating across the team as well as with all trading and internal desks, including technology, across the firm

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or related field with 0-2 years of work experience
  • General understanding of Windows and Linux

Senior Software Engineer- Technical Operations Team

As a Senior Software Engineer on Technical Operations at Gelber, you will have an active role in implementing and managing a wide variety of operational processes working closely with Infrastructure, Development, and Trade Support teams daily. What you’ll do:

  • Expand and improve upon existing processes, pipelines, and systems for trading, research, development, deployment, configuration management, and monitoring to improve tech and trading efficiency with an eye for establishing best practices, continuous improvement, and strong documentation
  • Design and develop applications to support real-time trading operations, monitoring and automation processes, and front-end systems to support the entire lifecycle of mission-critical trading system applications and to allow users to configure, deploy, and control their own production processes and pipelines

  • Responsible for managing projects from conceptualization and requirements gathering to user adoption
  • Playing a significant role in design, implementation, and maintenance of proprietary C# trading platform that powers all algorithmic trading at Gelber
  • Bridging the gap and communication between trading and technology and being that technical touchpoint for all of algorithmic trading

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience coding in C#, Java, or C++
