As a Trade Settlement Associate focused on Futures and Equities at Gelber, you will have a real opportunity to have a long-term career in Operations at a successful trading firm. You will work side by side with not only several teams within Operations but interact with traders that trade across many different asset classes. This position will report directly into the Trade Operations Manager who reports directly into the Chief Operating Officer. You will also have many opportunities to interact with different managers within settlements for additional exposure.

This position will require in person presence in our Chicago office located in River North right next to the Merchandise Mart and convenient to public transportation. This position will initially require 4-5 days per week onsite, with potential for more days remote per week in the future. (This is an early morning shift role, with standard working hours 6am to 2pm Central Time). You will be required to work some holidays, due to when the exchanges are open in other countries.

What you’ll do:

• Monitoring and overseeing trading activity in all asset classes traded looking for potential issues and following up with those traders at Gelber
• Working with third parties such as Brokers or Clearing Firms
• Working closely with not only all trading groups, but senior management, and across all of back/middle office
• Analyze and problem solve position and P&L breaks between traders and back-office systems
• Oversight of the trade life cycle from verifying execution, to booking, to settlement of the trade

What you’ll need:

As a Technical Operations Intern, you will join a team responsible for the internal tools and systems that enable daily trading and operational workflows. Early in the internship, you’ll learn how our Ops and Trading teams use internal applications, how production support works in a trading environment, and the standards we use to keep critical tools reliable. You’ll then take ownership of a modernization project for a production web portal used daily by operations staff and traders.

Position Overview

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to participate in a summer program in which they will plan and execute a project that modernizes a legacy internal web tool (“OpsWeb”). The project focuses on improving maintainability, usability, and reliability while partnering with daily end users to ensure changes are practical and non-disruptive.

We will teach you the context and tools you need to demonstrate your ability, and we will give you meaningful problems that require thoughtful engineering and stakeholder collaboration.

What You’ll Do

• Experience hands-on learning and gain exposure to how a proprietary trading firm operates day-to-day from a systems and tooling perspective
• Work directly with Technical Operations engineers and partner with Operations stakeholders who use these tools daily
• Take ownership of a real modernization effort on a production web portal
• Design and implement a shared templating approach across 15–20 pages to reduce HTML duplication and improve maintainability
• Improve UX and collaboration by enabling shareable, URL-driven views (GET + query params)
• Remove broken or low-value features safely, with careful change management and UAT
• Produce high-quality documentation for both developers and end users, and present results at the end of the internship

Goals

• Deliver a measurable improvement to a production internal application used daily
• Learn to refactor legacy systems without disrupting critical workflows
• Build strong habits around code quality, incremental rollout, stakeholder feedback, and documentation

This project centers on developing a web-based interface that enables non-technical stakeholders to generate flexible financial statements without requiring custom engineering support. The goal is to provide a scalable, in-house reporting solution that improves usability, efficiency, and long-term maintainability.

We will provide the business context and technical guidance needed to succeed, while giving you meaningful ownership over a production-facing system used by Accounting and Settlement teams.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build a web-based UI for generating custom financial reports
• Enable users to pull from flexible data sources, including trades, positions, pricing, and fees
• Implement filtering, sorting, grouping, and transformation capabilities within reports
• Allow users to save report configurations for future use, with potential scheduling capabilities
• Partner directly with Accounting and Settlement stakeholders to gather requirements and validate outputs

As an Experienced FX/Forex Trader for Gelber Coöperatief in our Amsterdam office, you will have an opportunity to play a critical role as we expand our footprint throughout Europe. You will be joining a small and successful office with over a decade of experience in a variety of asset classes and a wide range of trading styles. As an Experienced Brazil B3 Futures Trader, you will have a real opportunity to make an impact. In a new market for Gelber, you will have the ability to build and grow a new business for the firm. As an Experienced Brazil B3 Futures Trader, you will expand and strengthen our participation in Brazilian derivatives markets. This role is designed for an experienced trader with a demonstrable track record of generating consistent, risk-adjusted returns trading futures listed on B3 (Brasil Bolsa Balcão). The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Brazilian macro dynamics, market microstructure, and risk management, along with the ability to scale capital responsibly within a proprietary trading environment. You will work side by side with other successful and talented individuals to capitalize on market opportunities. This role is for someone who flourishes in a fast-paced environment, has a strong work ethic, a competitive attitude, and a proven record of profitability in a trading position for at least 3 years.

The role can be worked hybrid/in-person in Chicago, New York or Boston. Remote work may be considered for top candidates.

What you’ll do:

• Trade B3-listed futures products at a highly profitable trading firm, including:
  • DI (Interest Rate) Futures across the curve
  • Ibovespa Index Futures
  • USD/BRL Futures
  • Select commodity futures listed on B3
• Analyze Brazilian macroeconomic developments, monetary policy (COPOM), inflation trends, fiscal policy, and capital flows
• Consistently generate strong, risk-adjusted returns across varying macro and volatility regimes
• Manage your own portfolio of active strategies and drive trading decisions
• Collaborate across your trading desk to execute teams’ goals while ensuring core risk and compliance standards are met

What we’d like to see:

• Proven track record of 3-5 years of profitable trading in B3-listed futures products
• Deep understanding of: 
  • Brazilian interest rate cycles and DI curve mechanics
  • Local and offshore flow dynamics
  • B3 contract specifications, clearing, and margin framework
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work autonomously and as a team player
• Proven self-starter with exceptional product knowledge, trading methodology, and market insight

The approximate annual base compensation range for this position is $72,000 to $120,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package plus benefits, will be determined by a number of factors which include but are not limited to the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; geographic location; and internal equity. As an Experienced FX Trader, you will have a real opportunity to have a huge impact on the firm. This position will require a strong emphasis on in-person presence in our Chicago office, located in River North right next to the Merchandise Mart and convenient to public transportation.  

What you’ll do:

• Manage your own trading book with a focus on FX products
• Collaborate across your trading desk to execute teams’ goals while ensuring core risk standards are met
• Analyze market trends, order flow, and technical patterns to identify trading opportunities
• Develop, test, and refine your trading strategies using historical data and real-time market conditions
• Continuously monitor macroeconomic events, central bank policy shifts, and geopolitical developments to identify opportunities
• Conduct research to develop new strategies and improve the performance of your existing strategies
• Monitor material changes in levels of risk and variance in PnL, especially focused around deviation from your plans, and proactively communicate those changes to leadership

As an Experienced Discretionary Energy Trader, you will have a real opportunity to have a huge impact on the firm. You will work side by side with other successful and talented individuals to capitalize on market opportunities across global energy markets. This role is for someone who flourishes in a fast-paced environment, has a strong work ethic, a competitive attitude, and a proven record of profitability in a trading position for at least 3 years. This is a senior risk-taking role that will be a key idea generator for the desk.

The ideal candidate would work hybrid from our headquarters in Chicago, IL or office in White Plains, NY, though we are open to remote candidates.

What you’ll do:

• Manage your own trading book with a focus on energy markets such as refined products, natural gas, and power
• Manage your own risk across a portfolio of active strategies and drive trading decisions
• Analyze market fundamentals including supply/demand dynamics, storage levels, weather patterns, geopolitical developments, and regulatory changes
• Interpret price action, spreads, and order flow to identify trading opportunities
• Develop, test, and refine discretionary or systematic-informed strategies using historical and real-time market data
• Continuously monitor market conditions, news, and macroeconomic and energy-specific events
• Monitor material changes in levels of risk and variance in PnL, especially focused around deviation from your plans, and proactively communicate those changes to leadership

What we’d like to see:

• Experience trading energy products such as natural gas or power.
• Nice-to-have experience includes emissions markets, biofuels, Renewable Energy Certificates, or cross-commodity trading
• Proven track record independently managing a PnL, or being a senior member of a team driving strategy
• Prior Proprietary Trading or Hedge Fund PM experience strongly preferred
• Larger bank or physical trading shop experience may be considered if significant decision-making autonomy existed
• Defined discretionary edge in energy markets such as fundamental modeling, weather-driven analysis, flow-based insights, or relative value/spread trading
• Strong understanding of energy market structure (e.g., storage, transportation, seasonality, regional dislocations)
• Entrepreneurial mindset with competitive nature
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both autonomously and as a team player
• Quant skills and data literacy are a plus but not required; ability to incorporate data into decision-making is preferred
• Openness to feedback and willingness to adapt your trading style with changes in market conditions
